A rarely offered evergreen perennial from Japan - Yakushima Island to be precise, forming congested rosettes of matte deep green lance shaped foliage to 5 cms long and 1 cm wide or so. The flowers form in early spring which opens to allow the flower spike to extend to around 15 cms high or so. The flowers are a palest lilac-pink/white in colour, star shaped with narrow petals. Numerous flowers are held in each flowerhead, one flowerhead per stem but numerous stems per plant. Likes a soil not quite as damp as the other heloniopsis species listed here.
