Typical rich green evergreen leaves clasp the short stems which make a mat of growth only 1 cm or so in height. The larger of the shoots produce flowers which are held solitarily just above the foliage. Not as floriferous as the sino types of Gentian but each individual flower is significantly larger in every dimension and lasts considerably longer. Very rich deep blue with a green spotted throat and a good longevity make these plants ideal for troughs etc. Quite different from the other acaulis types listed here. the leaves are more rounded at the tips similar to alpina.
