A vigorous herbaceous bulbous perennial which rises in early spring, the leaves first, followed quickly by the flowers. The leaves are large and strap shaped, pale glossy green and marbled with brown. Flower are a bright pink held on rigid stems with up to four per stem. Each stem is up to 30 cms high although very occasionally it can reach 40 cms. Flower petals are slightly reflexed. This is a species from Western USA.
