A completely hardy terrestrial orchid being a hybrid between E palustris and E gigantea. Liking a moist situation in light shade and a soil of moderate fertility, this orchid will start into growth in mid spring. Leaves are lanceolate and deeply furrowed, pale green and around 20 cms long clasping the rigid stem which will rise to around 35 cms or so. The flowers are the obvious main attraction, and these are borne on the upper half of the stem, around 15 in number.
