This japanese hybrid is deciduous and the new growth rises in early spring shortly after which, the flowers emerge. Young leaves are soft fresh green when young but colour up to a deeper green when mature. Flowers are borne in short racemes, are a strong red and whitish in colour, and hang pendulously from upright stems.
