A rhizomatous perennial forming solid clumps of erect rigid stems carrying both evergreen leaves and flowers. The leaves on this plant are broadly lanceolate, pale green with a strongly glossy upper surface. Flowers are borne at leaf petiole bases, creamy on the outside and purplish on the inside, occasionally followed by rich purplish fruits in autumn. Collected by Bleddyn & Sue Wynn Jones from Taiwan
