A rhizomatous perennial forming solid clumps of erect rigid stems carrying both evergreen leaves and flowers. The leaves on this plant are broadly lanceolate, pale green with a strongly glossy upper surface. Flowers are borne at leaf petiole bases, occasionally followed by rich purplish fruits in autumn. Collected by Bleddyn Wynn Jones from Luzon Valley - Philippines.
