A highly attractive evergreen perennial which makes carpets of growth if planted in moist soils in shade. Foliage is scalloped and rounded on the normal species but we believe we have here a slightly narrower leaved form. The leaves are quite fleshy and covered with clear bristly hairs on both the upper and lower surfaces. Stems also add interest being bright red and also covered in hairs. Flowers are a yellowish-green and held in cymes above bract-like creamy yellow leaves which last for many weeks after the flowers have gone. Spreads by runners which emerge just after flowering with the whole plant appearing to erupt with new runners from the centre.
