Smallish tubers produce growing points in early spring which eventually reveal the flowers and crumpled leaves. The flowers are up to 5 inches tall, tubular and hooded. Colour is red/brown and these fully unfurl before the leaves making a clump look like a colony of Meerkats! The foliage is in the form of two leaves each having rounded leaflets being rich green.
