Foliage is small for a Rhododendron, rounded, deep green and held on rigid stout stems up to a height of around 30 cms or so. Flowers are produced in early spring at the stem tips in loose clusters. These are broadly funnel shaped, colour is rich purple-blue and they are waxy in texture. Suitable for the smaller rock garden or shaded area in acid soil. The evergreen nature of these shrubs adds backbone to the garden especially throughout the winter months.
