A vigorous herbaceous bulbous perennial which rises in early spring, the leaves first, followed quickly by the flowers. The leaves are very large and strap shaped, pale glossy green and marbled although feintly with brown. Flower are a bright yellow with a central brown ring held on rigid stems with up to ten per stem. Each stem is up to 45 cms high although very occasionally it can reach 50 cms. Flower petals are slightly reflexed. This is a hybrid between E. tuolumnense and E. californicum White Beauty which has produced several hybrids of this appearance although this is certainly the largest.
