Product Details
Leaves on this orchid are finely covered with hairs, soft green, around 15 cms long and maybe up to 5 cms wide, the whole joined to an erect stem which reaches up to around 30 cms high or so. This rises from a rhizome which grows slowly beneath the soil surface and the plant will eventually make a clump in time. The flower consists of 3 upper petals which in this case are reddish/brown and twisted. The larger part is made up of a single flower part called a lower lip and this hybrid has a creamy buttery-yellow colour to it. These plants prefer a loose open soil and in the garden the soil can be opened up using shredded bark, perlite or even coarse grit. A position in moist but well drained soil suits best with moderate fertility, and preferably sited in morning sun but shaded for the rest of the day. If this is not available then a spot in dappled shade all day will suffice. C. parviflorum X C. calceolus.
