Product Details
Many years ago this plant was collected from Uttar Pradesh as seed and brought back to the UK where it was germinated with success. After a few years it begun flowering and as we all do - the best plants were selected and the remaining ones either sold as 'obtusiloba' or discarded. The best plants were selected because the flower opens white but over the period of several days it gradually turns a rich velvety blue-violet and at this stage it lasts for maybe 2 weeks. It's fabulous!
Unfortunately these selected plants are fully sterile i.e. to this date we, and other nurserymen, have been unable to cross it with any other Anemone. For this reason it has to be produced from division and it's a slow process which is why it is a little costly.
We believe this could be a hybrid of Anemone trullifolia and obtusiloba. The whole plant is herbaceous and growth doesn't start until early April when the first flush of flowers comes along. It does sporadically flower after this also.
